Daniel Cabanillas (Tenor)
Daniel Cabanillas began his musical studies with his mother Maria Teresa de Cabanillas, in his native Honduras at the age of two. He came to the United States in the summer of 1993 as a participant in the Young Artist Program of Opera North, at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Mr. Cabanillas has studied voice and “Bel Canto” with several distinguished artist such as Louisa Jonason from New York’s City Opera, Luis Giron May from the Vienna State Opera,Vienna, Gail Robinson from the Young Artist Metropolitan Opera, New York, Benjamin Luxon from the Convent Garden Opera in London, and John Wustman, Luciano Pavarotti’s accompanist and famous vocal coach.
Mr. Cabanillas has sung several operatic tenor roles including Alfredo in “La Traviata” (debut 1992), Rodolfo in “La Boheme”, Ernesto in “Don Pasquale” and Tamino in “Die Zauberflöte” to mention a few.
Mr. Cabanillas has toured Asia, Europe and Latin America in many sacred music concerts, Opera Festivals and Recitals.
Mr. Cabanillas is a versatile Pianist and Organist, Choral Conductor and Composer. Mr. Cabanillas released a Christmas CD “Oh Night of Love” in December 2006. In November 2018 Mr. Cabanillas released his second album titled: “Everlasting Love” a compilation of the most common favorite songs and hymns of the Christian religions.
Mr. Cabanillas currently serves as the Associate Director of the Office of Global Admissions at Gannon University, and Co- Music Director with his wife Emily Cabanillas at St. George’s and St. John’s Catholic Churches in Erie, Pennsylvania. They are the proud parents of 6 children, Mikkela, Nadia, Daniel, Liana, Emilia and Ethan. The Cabanillas family resides in Erie, PA United States.
